Sweet Samba welcome’s Paul McCartney to Atlanta

Paul McCartney

The Atlanta concert on August 15th will be a benefit to raise money for the upkeep of the city’s Piedmont Park, which will host the concert. http://www.piedmontpark.org/

This year’s concert,
in honor of the Conservancy’s 20th anniversary, will feature the musical genius of
Sir Paul McCartney and special guests The Script. Join us on Saturday, August 15, in the restored 10th Street Meadow.

This environmentally themed concert will continue to raise funds for Piedmont Park’s 53-acre expansion and maintenance, while promoting environmental sustainability.

Piedmont Park was founded in 1887, but local authorities in recent years have struggled to find the funds to maintain it. In 2007, the Dave Matthews Band and Allman Brothers attracted 50,000 concertgoers to the park for a benefit show, and Macca’s August 15th concert is expected to eclipse that crowd, the AP reports.

(FYI: to All Sweet Samba’s Clients) Due to the concert traffic & some closed roads Sweet Samba spa we be Closing @ 3pm. Any one who has an appointment on this Saturday please allow time for Traffic and parking issue. Please arrive early to your appointment, Relax and enjoy some wine.

Profile: Marissa Prendergast, bikini waxer

June 1, 2009 at 6:18 pm by Candace Wheeler in Profile

Have a hankering for a heart-shaped bikini line? Marissa Prendergast, a licensed esthetician at Sweet Samba in Midtown, can hook you up. And yes, she does Brazilians.

At your salon Sweet Samba you have a motto: “A salon for your hair down there.” Can you elaborate on that?

We do traditional bikini waxes, and we specialize in Brazilian waxes. We serve both male and female clients, but in addition to our more traditional services we also can create shapes and designs. We also dye hair and use creams to make the hair texture softer.

What kind of designs do customers ask for?

People ask for initials, hearts, any type of design. Everything is done free hand. I’m pretty much a pubic hair artist. We also have to do a lot of trimming for first timers.

I tried to get my mother in here for Valentine’s day once, but she wouldn’t go for it.

What is your favorite on-the-job moment?

I had a woman who named her vagina and was talking to it the whole time she was getting her wax. She was doing it to entertain me, because sometimes clients feel awkward those first few moments. This particular client kept talking to her vagina and apologizing if something hurt. She said she was going to take it home and be nice to it. I thought it was hilarious.

What’s the most common wax clients ask for?

Definitely the Brazilian or for guys the Manzillian or the Boyzillian

Since you specialize in Brazilian waxes, what styles are most popular?

Well, there are three: Dare-to-Bare, which is taking everything off including the hair on the backside; Barely-Bare, which is sort of like a bathing suit except you don’t wax the lip area; and Samba French Kiss (the landing strip), which waxes everything except a tall short or skinny area.

What’s it like sharing such an intimate experience with the people you wax?

You know usually by the end of it, me and the client are best friends. It’s easy to see why, because I’m seeing parts of them they don’t even show their best friends.
